An after school Satan Club. It’s not in “the classroom”. It’s not about religion. It’s only about free speech. It’s all good, right? So what could go wrong?
I live in Southern California. Part of the original wild west. Add to that the fact that we have Donald Trump, the “law and order” President. And yet, I feel like we’re closer to the wild, wild west of years gone by than we are to anything resembling law and order!
Protecting laws from religion? Management of religious affairs is about protecting what is lawful. That last sentence is the English translation of something from China’s Religious Affairs Regulations. But does that even make sense? China claims their citizens have freedom of religious belief. So shouldn’t laws about religion be concerned with protecting those religions?
What’s this thing about protecting the law from religion? It sounds so backwards. And yet, is it even unusual? We claim to have religious freedom in the U.S. So do many countries. But are we really doing anything different than China? In other words, is the real issue that China isn’t hiding what they’re doing? Let’s find out.
But somehow, like the serpent convincing Adam and Eve they wouldn’t die, Trump continues to convince too many Christians that he’s good for us. However, I can’t help but wonder, is he telling us that if we follow him, we won’t surely die? And as I show in The Problem of Free Will, the Hebrew says “die die”. As in die physically, and die spiritually. Depart from this earth. Go to Hell.
If you don’t believe in the devil, then when he comes for you, you’ve already lost. It seems so obvious. Unless of course, you don’t believe in the devil. Or in this case, if you do believe in “Mother Nature”.
What is freedom of religion? It depends. Who gets to define freedom? And who defines religion? Maybe even who defines “of”. We’re looking at China in this series, but the same issues come up everywhere. It’s all about who sets the rules. One thing we can be sure of – it’s not God. Not in China. And not in my country or yours either.
Here’s the thing about freedom – of religion or of anything. See that eagle flying around in the sky? That eagle is free. But he’s probably looking for someone to eat. Something alive. And when the eagle finds his target, a little bit of freedom is lost. A life is gone. And the eagle remains free.
With people, freedom of religion is kind of like that. Someone’s “flying around” above us. Someone who either doesn’t like our religion, or likes theirs better. Sometimes they hate our religion so much they want to kill it. If they’re strong enough – they can certainly take out individual people. Even any given church building. But can they destroy an entire religion?
I have some questions for Christians on immigrants. What are your feelings towards and about immigrants? Doesn’t matter if they’re legal or illegal immigrants. By the way, in the Bible, they were called aliens. There was nothing about legal or illegal. Is your view Biblical? Or is it the one put forth by our President? I have to ask because, well, it can’t be both. It’s one or the other. And you know what Jesus said about things that came down to one of two choices.
How Much Of The Unobservable Universe Will We Be Able To See? Sounds like a trick question, doesn’t it? Actually, I left something out. The headline from the Forbes article is: How Much Of The Unobservable Universe Will We Someday Be Able To See? Now you’ve got it, right? It’s about technology. Or is it?
We see that the U.S. and western Europe are not on the list of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
But Mexico is. Given the prevalence (I thought) of Catholics in Mexico, that surprised me.
I mean, it’s not like the satanic temple is out there forcing anything. They’re just taking advantage of things that Christians have pushed for! What are we thinking? Are we thinking?
Do we have eyes to see? Do we have ears to hear? Do we understand our own Scriptures? Do we even read them? Are we – Christians – so busy pushing our own agenda, rather than Jesus’ agenda, that we’re actually the ones bringing ourselves closer to the end?
