Three Tragic Verses – One Unavoidable Conclusion.  Five years ago, I wrote that the time would come when the U. S. will not help Israel at a critical time.  It seemed hard to believe back then. But now, prominent voices are trying to make that very thing happen.

Do politically active Christians understand the armor of God

Do politically active Christians understand the armor of God?

Do politically active Christians understand the armor of God? Judging by the words from Ron DeSantis and people’s reactions to those words, I’m sad to say that, in far too many cases, the answer is no. In fact, I’ll go further and say that politically active Christians who support DeSantis and the words coming from him don’t understand Christianity. They don’t understand some core statements from the Bible on Jesus or what He commanded His followers.

my body my choice - or - your body my choice

My body my choice. Is it just a way to avoid being responsible?

My body my choice! It feels like it’s being used for lots of things these days. Not getting vaccinated. And by extension, not vaccinating kids. Getting an abortion. And by extension, in a similar manner, not having kids. Of course, there are arguments made on both sides of both issues. We’ll look at both. However, I want to add another dimension. Christianity. Why? Because it makes things much more clear. And, by extension, much more volatile.

Five reasons why women gossip? What about men?

Five reasons why women gossip? What about men?

The headline read: Five reasons why women gossip. I immediately thought, men gossip too! So, what about men? Why doesn’t the headline say, Five reasons why people gossip? What’s going on here? Do men and women have different reasons? Or is that men, supposedly, don’t gossip? Like, maybe there’s another name for it when it’s men? Maybe, like the image says, with men it

Does Christianity really say wives submit to your husbands?

Does Christianity really say wives submit to your husbands?

Does Christianity really say wives submit to your husbands? Well, that depends. The English words say that. Unless we take the time to read the rest of the sentence in which they occur. If we turn to the spirit of the words, no, it doesn’t necessarily say that at all. I ask because I was going to write about something totally different today. That is, until I read the headline – Grace Community Church Leaders under Fire for ‘Excommunicating’ Wife Who Refused to Stay with Abusive Husband. That is, in a word, disgusting! And it’s a misuse of the verse in question. So, in another word, it’s wrong.

Reopening Schools – How Little Is A Life Worth?

How little is a life worth?  Donald Trump, U.S. President, is trying to force schools to open in the fall.  This is in spite of the increasing number of people being infected with the Coronavirus.  And while one can maybe argue that the number of positive cases is due to testing, it’s impossible to say testing is responsible for the corresponding increases in hospitalizations and ICU beds with COVID-19 afflicted people.  And I dare say, with the increasing number of people that will be dying in the next week or so because of all those other increases.

when churches will open

Don’t be misled. Trump shouldn’t decide when churches will open.

Trump shouldn’t decide when churches open!  You may have seen the headline from CNBC, or something like it: Trump slams governors, demands they open houses of worship ‘right now’.  But you know what?  It’s not up to the governors to decide when churches open either.  I’ve often argued that separation of church and state – if done correctly – is a good thing.  The government should not dictate religion.  If we learned anything from history, it should have been that many people came to “the new world” – eventually much of it to become the U.S. – to avoid the royal version of religion back in Europe.  But we haven’t really learned much, have we?
